In this programme you will gain a thorough understanding of health and disease. The five specialisations enable you to pursue your personal interests.
The two-year programme will provide you with a knowledge base for research in biomedical sciences. In addition, you will be able to focus on one of the specialisations: research, management, communication or education. The fifth specialisation, health, is open to a selected group of qualified students only. The programme is offered by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), a modern institution which combines research, education and patient care with a strong scientific orientation. Research conducted at LUMC belongs to the top European and international rankings. Within the context of the programme, exchange with other European universities is an option. The programme's aim is to train students to become independent researchers, allowing them to continue their career in science, either with a view to obtaining a PhD degree or to find a position in an industrial or institutional research environment.

Specialities:
In this specialisation you will not only gain in-depth knowledge of biomedical sciences, but you will also develop the skills needed to undertake independent research.
In this specialisation you will gain knowledge and skills in the area of management, business and entrepreneurship with a focus on science- and research driven companies.
This specialisation combines a one-year training in biomedical sciences research (taught in English) with a one-year teacher training programme (taught in Dutch).
This programme offers the opportunity to combine research training with programmes in various aspects of science communication, such as journalism, new media, museology and information visualisation.
