The Cyprus International Institute for Environment and Public Health is a center for research and education in the fields of environmental health, epidemiology and biostatistics, and public health more generally. Its educational mission is to train a new generation of public health scientists and professionals from Cyprus and from other countries in Europe, the Middle East, and northern Africa.

The Institute was established in 2004 by an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Harvard School of Public Health. Its educational programs include three masters degree programs the MS in Environmental Health, the MS in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and the new MS in Environment and Public Health as well as a research training program leading to the PhD in Environmental Health.

Our graduate programs are small, competitive, and international. They are taught entirely in English by distinguished faculty from the Harvard School of Public Health and the Cyprus University of Technology. The program is designed to be completed in 16 months one year of coursework, followed by a practicum. All coursework and the practicum design must be completed in residence. The final analysis and write-up of the practicum may be completed in absentia.

We now have well over 100 alumni from Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon, Italy, Egypt, France Nigeria, Israel, Germany, and a host of other countries. After graduating many of them have returned to their home countries to enter government positions. Others have taken positions and environmental / public health professionals with consultancies. Almost 1/3rd have gone on to pursue doctoral research training and academic careers at some of the finest universities in the world e.g., Harvard, Oxford, Yale, Kings College.
