Archaeology is the study of human life and activities in past cultures through examination of material remains. These remains, including objects and structures, are excavated from sites where people lived and worked in the past. Archaeology seeks to reconstruct events of the past, processes leading to their development, their meaning for individual cultures and general human development, and the consequences of those events on human culture. The Co-operative Education Program in Archaeology was developed to give students workplace experiential learning as a component of their University training in Archaeology. The Co-op program provides students with valuable on the job training and can enhance employment opportunities upon graduation. The Department of Archaeology offers the choice of earning a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology as well as the option of completing a concentration in Physical Anthropology.
