Arts and Culture is a three-year programme and has two tracks, one taught in English and the other taught in Dutch. This international programme studies modern Western society from a political, cultural, historical and philosophical perspective. It teaches you to approach serious contemporary issues from an academic point of view. The first phase consists of a series of six, chronological modules. You will learn about the origins and development of Western society During the second phase of the programme you will pick one specialisation: * Cultures of Knowledge and Technology: examines the effect of science and technology on our society and culture * Literature, Arts and Culture: you learn how art, literature and culture reflect on a series of key themes of modern society * Political Culture: you become familiar with the problems of democracy, human rights, political fundamentalism and totalitarianism * Media Culture: the evolution of New Media and its impact on society are central in this specialisation. Arts and Culture is a three-year programme and is available in two tracks, one taught in English and the other taught in Dutch.

Admission requirements

The bachelor's programme Arts and Culture is taught in English. An active and passive command of English is therefore necessary. If you finished your secondary education in a non–EU/EEA country and are not a native English speaker, you must submit the official results of either an IELTS test (minimum score 6.0) or TOEFL (computer-based minimum score 213; internet-based minimum score 80; paper-based minimum score 550). If you finished your secondary education in an EU/EEA country you will not have to do an English language test.
