Our Automotive Engineering course will equip you with the skills and capabilities for you to make a significant and early contribution to industry and set you on the path to be a Chartered Engineer.
You will be taught in the new Engineering and Computing Faculty building which opened in 2012. You will benefit from the Universitys advanced facilities, its reputation for teaching excellence in the engineering field, and its strong links with local industry. You should develop an in-depth knowledge of the essential technical subjects, along with the personal skills necessary to progress your career to a leadership role in industry.

Course Content
In the first two years you will study subjects that have been designed to broaden your perspective of automotive engineering. As you enter year three you will define your individual study plan, selecting from a range of options to complement your core subjects.
Your main themes of study will be:
- Design: the innovative resolution of design problems focused on commercially viable solutions.
- Analysis: you will learn to use industry standard software to model, analyse and validate vehicle behaviour, components and systems.
- Management: the application of principles and practices utilised to assure effective business operation.
- Sustainability: an ethical approach to work by protecting the best interests of life and the environment.
- Practical: investigation and analysis using laboratory, workshop and computer-based techniques.

Essential Entry Requirements:- 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English Language and Mathematics, or specified equivalents.
- A-Levels: BBB to include Mathematics and one from Physics, Chemistry, Design Technology, Further Mathematics, Electronics, Computing, ICT or Engineering. Excludes General Studies
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: DDM in Engineering
- International Baccalaureate Diploma: 29 points to include Maths and either Physics, Chemistry, Design Technology or IT at Higher level

Funding
Merit Scholarship Scheme
Merit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.
- Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University.
- Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels or equivalent at grades BBC)
- There is no separate scholarship application process: all undergraduate applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country and postgraduate applications from international, will automatically be considered for a merit award. You will not have to do anything, if you are successful you will be notified in due course by the International Office.
Occasionally, funding becomes available to enable the University, either centrally, through one of the faculties or from other sources, to offer research studentships in specified topics or fields of study.
