Biochemistry

Synthesis of compounds, determination of structures, reaction kinetics and mechanisms, and properties of materials - Chemistry has many facets. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry excel in analytical, inorganic, organic, physical and theoretical chemistry. A program in Biochemistry, which explores the chemistry of biological processes, is also offered and draws upon faculty expertise in molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology and clinical biochemistry. Chemistry and Biochemistry undergraduates have the option of participating in the co-operative (work/study) program alternating four-month periods at the University with salaried practical experience. Students in the Honours program conduct a supervised research project in their final year.
