Biology is the study of the life and structure of living organisms. The 3-year Biology program at Concordia University College of Alberta is designed to provide you with a strong fundamental knowledge of genetics, cellular and molecular biology, physiology and ecology. You learn how living things function, how they adapt, and how they interact with each other and their environment. Lectures highlight current issues through classroom discussion while laboratory work emphasizes hands-on experience. Written and verbal communication skills are stressed, and you will be challenged to develop critical and analytical skills. An independent research project forms the basis of the capstone course in Biology.A Biology concentration can lead to these career options: botanist, chiropractor, coroner, paramedic, laboratory researcher, scientific writer, conservationist, teacher, veterinarian, health practitioner, biotechnologist.
