Fields of Research

  • Cell and Molecular Biology
  • Ecology
  • Physiology and Biochemistry

Requirements

  • 4-year B.Sc. degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
  • Achieved at least a 78% overall average in the last two full-time years of the undergraduate degree.
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum acceptable score is 600 for the paper and pencil version, 250 for the computer version, or 100 for the internet version with no individual score below 23 of the four skill categories. [Western's TOEFL ID is 0984].
  • The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS). Minimum acceptable score is 6 overall and in each of the four categories.
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
  • CV (listing past work experience, publications, awards/scholarships, certificates, etc).
  • Statement of Research Interest
  • Publications (if applicable)
  • Landing papers (if applicable). For permanent residents of Canada only, please include a photocopy of both sides of your Permanent Resident Card or a photocopy of your Record of Landing. If you are applying to be a permanent resident, but have not been granted landed-immigrant status, you must apply as an international applicant. If you have received notification of being an "In Principle Permanent Resident", please upload an electronic copy of the document confirming this status to your application.
  • To support your application, you must attach one electronic copy of your academic transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended. At the time of application, official transcripts are not necessary, and it is sufficient to upload an electronic copy of all grades from each post-secondary institution attended to the application as a PDF. As such, if your grades are available electronically, as through Western's Student Centre, you may save them as a PDF and eliminate the need to purchase transcripts for the purpose of applying for graduate studies.
