The objective of each of the programs described below is to develop influential business leaders who are able to assume high-level responsibilities in the rapidly changing national and international environment of the public and private sectors. The curriculum is designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity; to develop analytical and research ability; and to give students the ability to make sound managerial decisions, to plan, organize, and control activities in order to achieve established goals, and to manage people, organizations, and change. Students are expected to acquire the concepts, tools, and understanding to operate in and contribute successfully to new economic environments. Such environments are characterized by rapid technological change, global competition, and information-rich or information-deficient management decisions. Each program is designed to accommodate students with baccalaureate degrees in a wide variety of fields. Each affords the student a wide range of choices to complete a course of advanced study that integrates developments, theory, and applications involved in the exercise of executive and managerial administrative responsibilities.

Core Curriculum

Our goal is to give all MBAs a strong foundation in the fundamentals of business and to endow them with the general management skills employers seek. Through the First Year Required Courses below, the McCombs faculty seeks to instill a contemporary, real-world managerial perspective, business ethics, teamwork and leadership skills, cross-functional problem solving, the ability to manage change, human resources, risk, and brand presentation. Core courses will set the foundation for you to later tailor your MBA to your specific goals through our Elective Courses.

Sylff Global Fellows Program

The goal of the Sylff Global Fellows Program is to increase the global diversity of the Texas MBA education by attracting highly-qualified students from all over the globe to the Texas MBA program, while creating a cadre of Sylff Fellows in business administration who can link American and International perspectives.

To be considered for the Sylff Global Fellows program, the applicant must be a non-US Citizen or Permanent Resident. In some cases, US Citizens and Permanent Residents with extensive international experience may be considered. Students must also possess an interest in promoting international perspectives in business at the McCombs School of Business. Applicants are automatically considered for the Sylff Global Fellows program through the admission process; No additional paperwork needs to be submitted by the applicant for consideration.
