A total of 48 hours are required to complete the MBA degree. Depending if you are a full- or part-time student, our program typically takes between 2-4 years to complete.

Transfer Credits

Each degree program within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is responsible for evaluating transfer credit and determining how the credit will apply to your specific degree program.

The evaluation of transfer credit is based on a review of the comparability of the nature, content and level of the learning experience and its appropriateness to the degree program.

If you're interested in transferring credit, you will need to consult with the UNL academic department associated with your major.

Business skills are honed, and electives allow students to tailor a program to their career interest. A total of 48 hours are required to complete the MBA degree. Full-time students can complete the program in less than two years. Students who work full-time and take classes part-time can finish the program in 3-4 years.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites must be completed no later than within the first semester of the MBA program with a grade of C or better. Students cannot take GRBA811, 812 or 851 until the pre-requisites are satisfactorily completed.

• Statistics – ECON215 or STAT218 or equivalent course

For students who are not in Lincoln, equivalent courses can be taken at a college or university in your local area. Refer to UNL's transfer equivalency website to make sure the courses have been evaluated as being equivalent to the UNL courses indicated above.

May be taken from any of the five interdepartmental business areas or can be taken from outside CBA if pre-approved by your advisor.

At least 3 of the 9 hours must be graduate-level only courses (800 or 900 level).

GRBA 98 MBA Assessment (0 Credit Hours)

Required of graduating MBA students for assessment purposes. Comprised of a nationally normed exit exam, the MBA exit survey, an employment survey and other activities related to assessment.

Internships

Students with little full-time work experience are expected to participate in an internship. With faculty guidance, internships are designed to give students practical experience in managerial and/or administrative situations. A performance evaluation is given by the employer and faculty sponsor. The student will be required to summarize the learning experience by delivering a PowerPoint presentation to faculty and invited guests. Students can participate in a maximum of two internships and earn 3 hours of elective credit for each internship, for a maximum of 6 hours. Specialization : Finance

Students interested in a finance specialization must complete three of the following elective courses.

Each year the MBA program seeks to enroll men and women who represent a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. In reviewing applications, the Graduate Committee members are guided by several criteria:Bachelor’s degree, 3.0 GPA recommended GMAT, score of 600 recommended. Alternatively, a comparable GRE score can be considered. Applicants to the MBA program who hold an MD, or are currently enrolled in medical school, do not have to submit GMAT or GRE scores. MBA applicants who have a PhD are required to submit GMAT or GRE scores, but the test does not have to have been taken within the last five years.Three reference names and contact information - Three individual reference names are required when applying. All three contacts must be former or current supervisors or professors. The references will be contacted only if the committee deems it necessary. No recommendation letters are needed.Personal Statement - All applicants are required to submit a personal statement through GAMES. Accreditation

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accrediting agencies. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been continuously accredited since 1913. The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for coordinating University efforts to prepare for the accrediting agency’s periodic site visits and reviews. The university last underwent a comprehensive self-study and site visit during the 2006-07 academic year. The next comprehensive evaluation will be in 2016-17.
