A Masters Programme for those who want to trade and negotiate with the most important trade partner of Europe: China

The Chinese are coming. As a matter of fact they are already here. They own big industries in European countries. They win construction contracts in Poland. They invest in communication and infrastructure in Greece and buy textile factories in Italy. They have about half of the world market of wind energy.

The EU is Chinas biggest trade partner, and both Danish and other European enterprises are present in China. The potential is huge, and experts indicate that we have far from finished with China. As a matter of fact we have only just begun.

Danish firms look for employees with skills both in business economics and Chinese language and culture. With a MA in Business, Language and Culture (Chinese) you will have the qualifications required by many Danish and international enterprises that work in China or trade with the Chinese from Denmark or other countries.

50% of the courses of the MA programme lie within the disciplines Chinese culture, society, economy, and communication and language skills in Chinese. Another 50% of the courses lie within the business administration field with emphasis on business organization and marketing in relation to the international market.

Apart from a number of compulsory courses in the two main areas listed up above, you will get the opportunity to shape your academic profile through electives in both areas. You can either take these electives in Sønderborg or during a study stay in China, or you can replace them by reports from internships in China.

Individual profiling is also possible in the final thesis: You choose the topic yourself, and can draw in a partnership with a company.

This programme is offered in English

The Cand. Negot. Masters Programme in Chinese is a 2-year full-time programme (120 ECTS points).

The programme contains equal proportions of humanities and social science subjects, taking account of the fact that students can choose to write their thesis in one of the two areas or combine the two.

The programme builds upon the skills acquired by students in their BA negot. (Chinese) degree (i.e., skills acquired in the areas of business economics, marketing and national economics on the one hand, and Chinese language, society, culture and communication on the other).

Also included are electives from the humanities and the social sciences, which give students some latitude in influencing their course profile, for example by taking these courses abroad or doing them as part of a traineeship.

Teaching takes place as classes, lectures, student presentations, discussions, written exercises, group and project work.

Teaching is usually in English, but in some of the Humanities courses also in Chinese.

In the third term, there are good opportunities for study or work experience in China since the semester consists entirely of electives.

The aim of the programme is

* to ensure that graduates are capable of finding independent solutions to subject-specific problems and to carry out relevant investigations on the basis of broadly based skills both in international business economics with special weight on marketing and in Chinese society and culture and communication theory, and that they master the Chinese language at a high level.
* to qualify students to conduct and participate in academic work and to apply to continue to a Ph.d.

Graduates who have completed this master programme are entitled to use the title of MA (Master of arts) in business, language and culture.
