The aim of the Master of Business Research is to train you in high-level business research, for either academic or senior management purposes. You will undertake a significant piece of research in your area of interest, using your specialist knowledge and advanced research techniques to explore the resolution of a management problem. It is expected that the research you conduct over several years will make an important contribution to the development of new knowledge, community development and solutions for industry and government.

1 The dissertation allows students to undertake in-depth, independent investigation in a chosen area of business. To complete the dissertation, students will be required to select a topic, develop a proposal, carry out supervised research on the topic using an appropriate research method and present the results in a dissertation of no more than 40,000 words.
After successful completion of coursework courses, part-time candidates enrol in BUS8201 (comprising of two units) for each semester. This will normally be for a total of four semesters.
After successful completion of the coursework courses, full-time candidates enrol in BUS8202 (comprising of four units) for each semester. This will normally be for a total of two semesters.
Entry requirements
- 3-year bachelor degree in business, commerce or a related field from a recognised university
- Minimum GPA of 5.0 on a 7.0 point scale in undergraduate degree, or a minimum 5.5 for the 2nd and 3rdyears of the degree
- Applicants intending to undertake a dissertation in information systems must have prior studies in information systems or computing.
- On application, candidates must be able to provide an outline of the dissertation topic they intend to pursue
English Language Requirements
Domestic and international students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
