Students who wish to keep their options open and explore the many facets of a Business education should choose a major in Business Studies. This major allows students to choose coursework from all functional areas of Business, to obtain a broad, generalist degree. You'll get an overview of many functions in the business world and base your studies on how these functions interact. Students must do coursework outside the Alberta School of Business that supports the major's intent to produce well-rounded graduates with diverse talents.Studying with one of the largest Bachelor of Commerce programs in the country gives you some distinct advantages. You can focus your studies in a traditional field such as Accounting, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources. Or you can branch out into some of the unique and non-traditional majors such as Business Economics & Law, East Asian Studies, Entrepreneurship & Family Enterprise, Retailing & Services, and Management Information Systems. In the classroom, you can expect to find professors who challenge you to put ideas to work. Team and project work is a strong component of all of our classes, with our professors often playing a role as coach, mentor, moderator and information resource.
