The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is intended to offer specialist dental hygiene through clinical research and training, also offers dentists the opportunity to consolidate and extend their skills while within the specialisation area in the selection. This level is an expert post graduate training plan, not a PhD level. Therefore, all through the three decades of this level, students work from the clinical field as members of their healthcare team. Clinical placements may be undertaken in both metropolitan and rural public and private healthcare settings. Specialisations can be found in endodontics, oral pathology, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics and special needs dentistry. Graduates of this degree are prepared for careers within their field of specialisation, also will be eligible for specialty enrollment in Australia provided additional qualifications and strict conditions outlined by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are fulfilled.
