Community Services

This qualification reflects the roles of community agencies, case management and social housing workers involved with the managing, co-ordinating and/or bringing of person-centred services to individuals, communities and groups. At that degree, workers have specialized abilities in community services and work autonomously under broad instructions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the oversight of other workers and volunteers and/or case direction; program ethics or the development of new small business opportunities.Note that the Statutory & forensic child, childhood & family welfare specialisationmust be done in orderto meet the minimum education requirements for child protection and youth justice training in Victoria. Additionally, to meet minimum education requirements for entry into child protection training in Victoria, diploma qualifications needs to be approved by the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA)To attain this qualification, the candidate should have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of components of competency.No law, legislative, regulatory or certification conditions affect the qualification during the time of publication.
