The degree is earned in three semesters with course work in one or two disciplines and a thesis. Courses, seminars and practical work may be grouped by subject or methodology and offered as a module. Each module then features one or more specific evaluations leading to a grade. The degree requires three modules in the discipline of choice, three optional modules, and the defence of a thesis. Holders of Master of Arts (MA) may go on to advanced study.

1. candidates for the Faculty must meet the University's general enrollment conditions2. they must also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, referred to below as BA, or a degree considered equivalent by the Dean of the Faculty3. candidates who hold a diploma or degree equivalent to at least 180 credits from another Faculty of arts or university may be admitted to the Faculty for an MA programme; they may request that their additional credits be treated as equivalents4. candidates for a Master of Arts/MA in disciplines requiring specific expertise for a BA may be required to do supplementary studies before being admitted.
