The growing number of computer systems in industry means that the new generation of well-qualified professionals is required to implement, exploit emerging computer-based technologies and make full use of the latest technologies in power and electrical engineering. For the last decade the challenge for electrical and electronic systems engineers is to integrate smart devices into more efficient systems. The study programme is structured to deliver competencies, knowledge and skills required for computerized control of electrical technologies. The power and electrical engineering industry in Latvia is developing - it creates globally competitive products and significantly contributes to the implementation of relevant research projects. The demand for electrical engineers in the labour market of Latvia and other countries is huge and graduates have very good career prospects.

The main aim of the bachelor study programme is to provide basics of electrical engineering in the field of computerized control of electrical technologies, to prepare students for further engineering or master studies and to give an insight into practical application of acquired knowledge. The Programme aims to produce graduates who are highly literate in different aspects of computerized control of electrical technologies.
