Master's Degree Programme in International Business Management educates young professionals to become successfull in managing international business. The programme is conducted in English and can be completed within 2-3 years in HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki Finland. IBMA (90 ECTS) is a Masters programme offered entirely in English.

It leads to an internationally recognised degree called Master of Business Administration. Accomplishing IBMA takes around 23 years of part-time studies. The contact sessions are scheduled for the evening hours and for the weekends because this programme is targeted at students who work full-time.

The goal of IBMA is to develop students international business management skills through a variety of international business management courses and through tutoring them in a work development project such as a Masters thesis. The thesis work starts from the very beginning of the programme. Students are expected to act as change agents and apply knowledge that will make them and their organisations competitive players in international business.

Key learning outcomes of the Degree Programme
The goal of IBMA is to develop students international business management competences through variety of work development methods and tools, international business management courses, and through tutoring them in a work development project as their Master's Thesis. Working on the thesis starts from the very beginning of the studies. Students are expected to act as facilitators of change by applying in practice their international business knowledge that will make them and their organizations competitive players in international business.

The three main objectives of the IBMA Programme are to

* satisfy the increased demand of organizations for employees with practical and current international business knowledge and competencies,
* provide a career opportunity for Bachelor graduates by continuing and upgrading their education in international business management, and to
* encourage students to apply their international business management skills and knowledge in their everyday work in order to create and extract value for their organizations.

Professional growth
The professional growth in IBMA has three phases: CAPS, EAPS and Masters Thesis. After accomplishing the Compulsory Advanced Professional Studies CAPS (35 ECTS), you prepare your Personal Study Plan (PSP) for taking Elective Advanced Professional Studies EAPS and Free-choice Studies (25 ECTS) to enhance your international business competencies. The Masters Thesis (30 ECTS) is a Work Development Project that is related to challenges in international business management of an organization. Therefore, the Masters Thesis provides value not only for the students but for their organizations as well.

Upon graduation you will possess an internationally recognized degree called Master of Business Administration that is a Masters degree awarded by HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences.

Semester themes
* Semester 1: Work development methods and tools (including qualitative -, quantitative research, and project management tools); Workshop 1; and Thesis idea.
* Semester 2: International business management (including corporate strategy, (international talent management, and communities of practice); Workshops 2-3 (including emerging international business themes, and assessing managerial strengths); and Thesis plan, and personal study plan (PSP).
* Semesters 3-4: Elective advanced professional studies in international business management according to PSP; Free-choice studies; Workshops 4-5-6 (including emerging markets, global branding, and current international business topics); and Thesis progress reports 1-2-3. Students can participate in study tours to Silicon Valley and/or to Hong Kong voluntarily. Elective master courses can be taken in universities, open-university, specialization studies, partner schools abroad, and in summer schools abroad after the approval of the study advisor.

A Bachelors (or a higher) degree in the field of business (in case the Bachelor's degree is from other field the applicant should have as minimum 40 ECTS credits business studies) and three years working experience in the field of business after the degree and until 31 July 2014.

A scholarship scheme which covers the tuition fee for the second and third semester is available. The scholarships are meant for those paying students who show good results in their studies, i.e. the number and level of the ECTS credits, during the first and second semester. A free form application for the scholarship together with the transcript of records must be submitted to the Programme Director for each semester not later than 10 January for the Spring Semester and 10 September for the Autumn Semester.
