Requirements

Students applying to pursue a specialist PhD in Economics must have a Masters degree in Economics (or its equivalent) and an interest in pursuing in-depth research in an appropriate area. Applicants whose first language is not English are normally expected to have reached a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (writing scored 7.0, with no subscore less than 6.5) or a score of 100 in the iBT TOEFL. Copies of appropriate English language certificates must be supplied with your application.

IELTS band: 7 TOEFL paper-based test score : 600 TOEFL iBT® test: 100

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
