CarletonпПХs Electrical Engineers are transforming civilization and society. Working in industry, government and universities they are creating the light we read by, the devices which play the music we listen to and the computers we work, game and socialize on. This revolution in the way in which we live is achieved by designing the largest and the smallest structures ever built by humans. Working with nano-scale devices smaller than most living cells Electrical Engineers design the microchips used in devices varying from cell phones to satellites to super-computers. This vast array of networked devices is powered by the largest man-made structure in the world; A massive grid, designed by Electrical Engineers, moves power from large power stations, wind generation farms and solar power arrays to people all over the world; Creating light and heat, moving people, irrigating land and powering phones and computers.CarletonпПХs Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree program in Electrical Engineering features strong specializations in wireless electronics, nano-technology, green energy, bio-medical technologies and sensors, light-wave devices and integrated circuit design. Students will work in state-of-art laboratories developing hands-on experience with all aspects of design, fabrication and testing. A highlight of the program is team design courses in 3rd and 4th year and a unique in-house integrated circuit fabrication facility. Students in the Electrical Engineering program will have the opportunity to enrol in a co-op internship option. Since our program is closely linked with the Canadian high-tech industry, much of which is concentrated in the Ottawa region, you will have access to a wealth of superb placement possibilities.
