Massey’s Master of Engineering Studies is a high-quality programme, combining taught and research courses at a postgraduate level. It is a 120 credit qualification able to be completed in one year full-time.
If you are already working, or your research experience is limited, this qualification will give you the learning you need to take your career to the next level or pursue more in-depth postgraduate research.
The degree will help you gain expertise in an area outside of the focus of your undergraduate qualification, or current employment, or help you progress your career in your area of interest.
You can choose from a number of endorsements. Massey is the only New Zealand university to offer an endorsement/major in innovation management.
An integral part of your learning will be the experience working in a team environment to solve problems at a variety of conceptual levels. You’ll gain the ability to learn independently, analyse industry needs and propose and validate tangible technical solutions, identify when your knowledge of a problem is lacking, and be able access and use the information required.
The subjects available are: Electronics and Computer Engineering; Energy Management; Engineering and Innovation Management; Life Cycle Management; Mechatronics; Packaging Technology; Renewable Energy Systems.
You will follow a parts-based course of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 120 credits, comprising:
- Part One consisting of 75 credits at 700-level from courses listed in the Schedule;
- Part Two consisting of 45 credits at 800-level as specified in the Schedule;
and including:
- any compulsory courses listed in the Schedule;
- attending field trips, studios, workshops, tutorials, and laboratories as required.
