English language and culture (teacher training)

This two-year programme trains you to become a fully qualified teacher in English language and culture in the Dutch secondary school system (ages 12+). In the didactic modules of the first year, you will be introduced into all aspects of being a teacher. You will be brought up to speed with the latest innovations in education and the changing role of the teacher. During an extensive internship at a secondary school, you will teach classes, partly with the support of an experienced teacher. After some time, you will also run a class independently. In addition, you will do courses on linguistics and English literature. When you finish this two-year programme, you will not only obtain an MA degree in Literature or Linguistics, but also a certificate that shows that you are a fully qualified teacher in the English language. You can do this degree as a full-time or a part-time student. NB. (Near) Native level of Dutch is highly recommended.
