This class has a foundation in business studies and investigates the key elements students need to get a future career in tourism and events. Students develop solid team work and critical thinking knowledge, investigating events in the tourism and non-tourism contexts, like sports, festivals, conventions, meetings and community activities. Employability of graduates is enhanced thanks to the numerous operational Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities students undertake over the industry as part of this level. Students will: Apply a hierarchical knowledge and a technical orientation in tourism and events direction; review and apply the management skills necessary to work effectively, strategically and ethically in direction and entrepreneurial purposes in both event and tourism direction; apply critical and creative thinking to tackle current topics in event and tourism contexts; seriously evaluate and apply sustainability principles to issues in event and tourism contexts; and communicate and work effectively with others to achieve common outcomes.

Entry for the course relies in an entry rank. A rank can be achieved by means of a year 12 ATAR, other Australian qualification, work experience, or an international qualification.
