The Master of Arts in Guidance Counselling is offered through the Department of Education and Professional Studies. The MA will contribute in a significant way to the advancement of professional practice of guidance counsellors within schools and other professional settings. It will focus on personal, social, educational and vocational issues through contemporary theoretical, political and practical perspectives in the field.
This one year part-time programme will be offered on the University of Limerick campus over three semesters. The programme consists of 5 taught modules and a final dissertation totalling 60 ECTS credits. The taught components will involve on-campus attendance, work-based learning experiences and supervision activities.
Objectives
To advance graduates of initial guidance counselling programmes personal and professional development and build on their knowledge, skills and competencies in the field.
