Description
The challenging, high-quality curriculum for the program is designed with courses in a specific sequence, progressively building on expertise while advancing through the program. All courses are delivered in Rochester. Some coursework is delivered in a blended electronic and classroom format. Academic coursework is offered at UMR or MSHS and is coordinated with clinical rotations at Mayo Clinic to optimize the learning experience. The upper-division curriculum is two years in length and does require a summer session between years three and four. Grades in the required courses must be at least a C. All courses in the track must be taken A-F, unless only offered S-N. All students will participate in the same curriculum in years three and four.
Students will have the opportunity to train in the following specialties: abdomen, obstetrics, gynecology, and peripheral vascular. The program offers an exceptional educational experience by providing high-quality didactic and clinical experiences that prepare students to:
- Perform patient assessments
- Acquire and analyze data obtained using ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies
- Provide a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management
- Use independent judgment and systematic problem solving methods to produce high quality diagnostic information and optimize patient care

Admissions Criteria include:- Application Fee
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher required for admission to UMR
- Recommended minimum cumulative STEM GPA of 2.5 for all attempts of prerequisite science courses within five years of application
- Grade of C- or higher in all science prerequisite and liberal education courses
- Patient care experience (please note each track within the BSHP may have different requirements for patient care experience)
- Official High school transcript (only if a bachelor's or associate's degree has not been awarded)
- Official College Transcript(s)
- Application Essay (300 to 500 words)
- Personal Interview conducted by each tracks admissions committee
