This programme supports the development of advanced practice skills, research skills, critical appraisal abilities and clinical reasoning. We aim to develop your initiative and commitment to lifelong learning in the context of ever-changing health and social care systems.

Careers: This multidisciplinary programme opens up different career options, enabling you to focus on areas of relevant practice and research, and helping you deal with rapid changes in knowledge and healthcare systems, leading to improvements in quality of care.

Core modules: Outcome tools for effective practice; Psychological and social relationships in health and social care; Research skills in health and social care 1 and 2

Optional modules: either two from: Education in health and social care; Extending the scope of practice in upper quadrant spinal and shoulder pain; Extending the scope of practice in healthcare; Injection therapy; Sensory-motor interaction in neurorehabilitation; Therapeutic dialogue in health and social care; or Advanced pre-operative assessment (double module)

Plus: Dissertation

Duration: 1 year (full-time); 2 years (part-time)

Assessment: Critical discourses, research proposal, poster presentation, viva voce, practical work on quantitative and qualitative data analysis, case studies, online discussions, themed reflections, dissertation

Upper second-class honours degree in a relevant discipline from an approved higher education institution. A lower second-class degree or other appropriate qualifications will be considered (eg diploma in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, nursing, speech and language therapy, medicine or psychology). If you do not have an honours degree you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of advanced studies. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 TOEFL paper-based test score : 580 TOEFL iBT® test: 92 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
