This innovative MA offers students from a wide range of Arts and Humanities backgrounds the opportunity to study the intellectual history, politics, literature, music, material culture, buildings and landscape of medieval and Renaissance Europe. You will be taught by specialist staff from Archaeology, History, Literature and Music and the rich and varied programme is designed to equip you with the particular skills needed to access and study the past, and to undertake independent research in all aspects of early modern culture.

All students take a core module in classical and medieval Latin, and a module in palaeography which will teach you how to read original documents in Latin and English.

First- or upper second-class honours degree or equivalent. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 TOEFL paper-based test score : 580 TOEFL iBT® test: 92 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
