Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to develop critical skills including leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making, all within an international context. With its global outlook, practical orientation, and emphasis on intercultural understanding, the International Management degree from ISM aims to cultivate future leaders capable of shaping the international business landscape.
Educational organisation
The first semester reinforces and builds on students' existing knowledge of business management, and introduces them to specific facets of international management. In order to develop social as well as professional competencies, students receive training in executive presentations and team management skills. A Spanish, French or German language seminar rounds off their education during the first semester. The second semester is designed to deepen the knowledge acquired in the integrative foundation semester. The modules Applied Knowledge and Soft & Communication Skills are therefore compulsory. The Management & Planning of Consulting Projects seminar demonstrates how consulting projects are acquired and structured on the basis of real business problems. The consequences on one's own project management are also examined. In the Soft & Communication Skills module, students further develop their intercultural communication skills and gather valuable negotiation experience on an international level. Students can then choose two of the three following modules: International Strategy & Business Development, International Marketing and International Controlling. While students in the International Strategy & Business Development module focus on the development and implementation of business strategies and measures, students in the International Marketing module develop an advanced understanding of international marketing strategies, market research and statistics as well as customer relationship marketing. In the International Controlling module, students critically examine the operative and strategic management of a company.
During their semester abroad, students further develop and strengthen their intercultural competence and improve their language skills in a region where they would like to work in the future. With this in mind, students can choose one of the ISM partner universities in Europe or overseas. There they will attend courses on topics such as Supply Chain Management, Investor Relations, Human Resources Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Research Methods - all of which are grounded in the economic, political, and cultural conditions in their chosen geographic area.
The programme concludes with the successful completion of a Master's thesis.
