The Juris Doctor (JD) is a graduate law level that builds up on the established standing of UTS: Law to present high-calibre, graduate-level education in the theory and practice of this law. It is specifically designed for students of disciplines aside from law. The Juris Doctor qualifies being an Australian Qualifications Framework level 9 master's level. The elastic nature of the JD permits students to work while they study and to tailor their demeanor to satisfy personal and professional commitments. The JD delivers an alternative pathway to work out as a lawyer for students that have successfully completed a primary level. In a globalised environment, the JD is recognised as a graduate-level law qualification. UTS: Law incorporates flexible learning options, including daytime and night classes, block intensive classes and online learning. Career options include, but aren't limited to, lawyer within a private business, government department or public law center, regulatory affairs and policy adviser at the public or private sector or legal specialisation associated with students' previous level or enhanced career options within an present professional sphere.

This Class satisfies the requirements for Entrance as a Attorney to the Supreme Court of NSW, provided students undertake a PLT System, like the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice.

  • Applicants must have completed an UTS approved bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications which demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. For this course the identical qualification required is a bachelor's degree in a field aside from law or a law qualification from an overseas authority. Entry is at the discretion of the associate dean (education). The English competency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
