In this specialisation you will learn to analyse language by studying the constitution of text - spoken as well as written - in its social, medial, cultural and historical context.
This one-year programme - taught in German - will provide you with an in-depth insight into the interaction of text and context. The programme is run jointly by Leiden University's Department of German, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht, and you will be able to take advantage of a broad range of specialised courses. The department's research is particularly strong in the field of historical linguistics. In addition, the programme has close connections with many German universities, including those in Düssseldorf, Leipzig, Münster and Berlin. Research-based co-operation also takes place with the Institute for Cultural German Studies at the Universität Bremen.
