In this specialisation you will concentrate on studying the complexity of natural languages, ranging from their syntactic structure to how humans process and produce language.
This one-year programme gives you the opportunity to take advanced courses in all areas of formal grammar - syntax, semantics, phonology - as well as in experimental approaches to speech acquisition, clinical linguistics and the modelling of speech and language. The courses are based on linguistic research carried out at the renowned Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL). You will have the option to choose one of two research areas: Clinical and Experimental Linguistics, which will teach you how to define congenital or acquired linguistic disorders, or Theoretical Linguistics, an in-depth study of syntactic, phonological or semantic topics.
Programme internationalization: * Studying abroad is optional.
This programme has a workload of 60 ECTS.
