The Marine Biology Master aims to promote multidisciplinary advanced training in Marine Biology, giving skills to the analysis and understanding of marine ecosystems, from genes to distint marine communities, their functioning and diversity, and applications to exploitation, conservation and biotechnology . The programme includes a strong laboratory and field work component, including scientific diving, in different marine ecosystem with specific attributes, and various biological productivities There are several International Professors and Scientists involving in teaching which will help to develop their skills and improve their capability to work in an international context.
The University of Algarve host several internationally recognized master programmes in Marine Sciences, and has solid experience in international cooperation and exchange of researchers and scientific data. The Marine Biology Master combines complementary academic strengths, resources of other masters in marine sciences, thus allowing the integration of key areas of expertise in the context of Marine Sciences applied in an innovative curriculum. Moreover, scientific projects, in researcher centres linked to the University of Algarve, will offer opportunities to the students to developed their master thesis studying marine ecosystems ranging from estuarine, neritic, and open-ocean areas, subjected to different climatic (from tropical to polar) and anthropogenic pressures.
