Specialization degrees provide a more focused education in one area of study. You will take most of your courses in one main subject area, and are expected to maintain a higher standard of academic achievement than those in the General program. Specialization degrees can provide the background to help you proceed to a higher degree, but its primary function is to provide a comprehensive education at the undergraduate level.Economics and Mathematics are closely related, but one subject is offered by the Faculty of Arts and the other by the Faculty of Science. The regulations of the two faculties make it difficult to take a program that includes a large number of courses from both. The Specialization in Mathematics and Economics program is a joint program of the two faculties, administered by the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, which overcomes these difficulties as far as Economics and Mathematics are concerned.
