The Mathematics Teaching Option is an integrated program offered jointly by the Faculty of Mathematics at Waterloo and the Faculty of Education at Queen's University in Kingston. Admission to this program takes place in second year from most Faculty of Mathematics co-op program, and is based on your grades and the supplementary information you provide.Prior to entering the Teaching Option, you complete two work terms in industry. Once enrolled into the program, you complete two work terms teaching in secondary school classrooms, plus an eight-month education unit that includes your Bachelor of Education (BEd) component at Queen's and a practicum (teaching assignment). At the conclusion of both portions of your education, you are awarded a BMath from Waterloo and a BEd from Queen's, and you qualify to teach in Ontario schools, in the intermediate and senior divisions.
