For the best chance of admission to the UBC MBA at UBC Sauder's Robert H. Lee Graduate School, we strongly encourage you to aim for our competitive recommendations, outlined in the table below. Due to the competitive nature of admissions to this program, meeting the minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee you a place.

Academic Achievement

  • Three-* or Four-year Bachelor’s degree with a B average or 72%, or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • *Three-year degrees are accepted from Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, India and Europe. If your country or region is not listed here pleaseemail us for clarification on your degree.  When applying please have your official transcripts sent directly to the Sauder School of Business MBA Programs Officeby your home university.  

Competitive Recommendation: B+ or 76% or 3.3 GPA

Professional Experience

Minimum two years of full-time work experience gained after graduation from your bachelor’s degree. Don’t have this? You could consider our Master of Management program instead.

Competitive Recommendation: At least 3 to 5 years of full-time work experience

GMAT or GRE

  • 550 GMAT with at least a 50th percentile in the quantitative and verbal sections of the test
  • at least 150 GRE score on the verbal and quantitative section.

Maturity, Motivation & Fit

We assess your managerial and leadership potential, maturity, ambition and drive, through your Essay Questions, resume, professional references and interview.

English Proficiency

Applicants must be able to speak, comprehend, and write fluently in English. An English proficiency exam is required for all candidates whose degrees are from a university outside Canada or the U.S.A. in which English was not the official language of instruction.

UBC MBA Scholarships & Awards

Each year, the School awards entrance scholarships to between 25-40% of the class.

Our wide range of entrance scholarships are based on merit, going to candidates who display an outstanding combination of talent, drive, and business and academic achievement.

Specifically, we award scholarships by taking a holistic view of the value that each talented candidate brings into the program. We assess merit around a comprehensive review of factors, including but not limited to: work experience, application essays, interview performance, academic credentials including GMAT and GPA scores.

You will automatically be considered for every applicable scholarship when you submit your online application to the program. We strongly encourage you to submit your UBC MBA application early in order to be considered for our entrance scholarship opportunities.
