The Bachelor of Media and Communication is intended to prepare students for a vocation in the media, multimedia and communications businesses. Students learn about the way the media is growing through an examination of issues including possession, and control of the media along with the effects of new media technologies on society. The course joins theoretical and technical knowledge and techniques needed to operate efficiently in diverse preferences in industry.

On completion of this Public Relations major students could be qualified to be a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and should confirm eligibility with the Institute. The Advertising major is professionally accredited by the Media Federation of Australia (MFA).

  • Year 12 or equivalent.

    VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: the absolute minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or even 30 in English (EAL). Extra performance criteria and requirement requirements may also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of one of these following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 higher level) with overall 65 percent, all of skills 65 percent
  • Minimum IELTS overall group of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (web-based ) minimum score of 75 with a reading ring at least 18 and writing ring at least 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no real skills less than 50)
  • every other equivalent assessment of English language competence.
