This amount comprises three areas of major: biomedical science, medicinal chemistry and anatomy and physiology. The biomedical science major is targeted on microbiology, biochemistryand molecular biology and areas of health. The nitric major focuses on chemistry and biochemistry, as the body and physiology major focuses on physiology, anatomy and pharmacology. Graduates of the degree will find employment in areas such as medical research laboratories, hospital laboratories and in pathology laboratories and become ideal for positions in the pharmaceutical, medical sales and respective search and high quality control laboratories, in addition to further study including research degrees, graduate pharmacy and graduate medicine degrees.
The Medicinal Chemistry major within the Bachelor of Medical Science is accredited by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) for Ordinary entry of a graduate into the Chartered Chemist qualification.
