The Hebrew University of Jerusalem offers an intensive one-year master's degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership at the Rothberg International School. This program is designed to create a cadre of leaders in the nonprofit world with cutting-edge skills as well as theoretical and practical knowledge in management, entrepreneurship and leadership. The program offers an option to specialize in Jewish Education.

The program is held over the course of three semesters (autumn, spring and summer).

The Masters in Nonprofit Management and Leadership consists of 38 credits over three consecutive semesters (autumn, spring and summer), including required courses and electives.

 

Students participate in class two days per week. In addition, students intern 8 hours per week over the course of the program and gain hands-on experience in nonprofit organizations.


Students may also take elective graduate courses offered through the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students with a sufficient knowledge of Hebrew may also take graduate-level courses taught in Hebrew through the M.A. program in Management of Nonprofit and Community Organizations offered by the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare.

Qualified candidates with a Bachelor's degree from accredited institutions of higher education are eligible for admission to the Master's in Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Admission is competitive and is based on transcripts and letters of recommendation. 

 Candidates must have:  

  • At least a 3.2 (B) grade-point average or the equivalent
  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution of higher education 

Knowledge of English: Applicants are required to submit official TOEFL, IELTS or Amir scores.  The minimum TOEFL score required is 573 on the paper-based test, 230 on the computer-based test, and 89 on the internet-based test.  The minimum IELTS score is 7.  The minimum Amir score is 220.

Exempted from this requirement are applicants who have completed a full degree (a minimum of four years) taught solely in English at a recognized institution of higher education.  Applicants who have completed a B.A. in English Language or Literature may request an exemption provided that they submit documentation from their university stating that the language of instruction is English.
