Focusing on research, the honours year builds on the foundations established in your undergraduate level. You will study a particular topic of professional interest in greater depth and make pathways to specialisations and further study or research. The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) is a year of analysis taken after the completion of a Bachelor of Nursing, entry to practice Master's degree or combined degrees. The College of Nursing and Midwifery offers research in areas influencing quality and patient safety in health care. This course will offer you a knowledge of how to develop a research proposal, from the identification of a research topic and literature review through to writing and submitting the proposal for approval by an ethics committee. You will undertake a research project and a single research study in the region of nursing practice and develop evaluation and research skills in nursing practice and health service delivery.
Honours isn't just a expert accreditation requirement. Honours offers students a competitive advantage in the job market and is intended to provide nurses with the expertise and research skills to undertake a postgraduate research degree, advanced professional training or to pursue diverse employment chances.
Entry will be based on performance in Bachelor Degree or major in a relevant field with a WAM of at least 65 in most degree 3 and degree 4 Deakin units (or at final year units for awards from other providers) or other signs of academic capability judged to be equivalent. Prospective students should note that selection being a Honours student is dependent not just on academic suitability, but also on the availability of a suitable supervisor for your investigation field, and also the match of their investigation with the doctrine of nursing in Deakin. Applicants will be asked to have completed the Bachelor or Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing (Preregistration) or Bachelor of Nursing Studies (Post-registration) having at least a mid-credit moderate to meet the requirements for entry.
