The master in nursing studies has been designed to enable existing graduates to complete a Masters Degree. Successful completion of the programme provides eligibility to apply for registration with the nursing and midwifery Council [NMC] in one of the three fields of nursing (Child, Adult, or Mental Health).
On the MSc Nursing masters degree you will gain skills in managing, delivering and enhancing nursing care for individuals and supporting their carers and families. You will be able to promote and support public health, as well as provide and support care in a variety of environments. Opportunities also exist for Erasmus exchanges which would enable you to study for part of your award in another country.
This nursing masters course normally runs over three years, Year 1 of the programme (for students not making an APL Claim) is identical to, and jointly taught with, the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing.

Accreditation
The MSc masters course in nursing normally runs over three years but can be completed in a shorter period through a mix of Accreditation of Prior Learning [APL] and programme attendance.
Applicants wishing to enter the programme via the APL route must demonstrate competence by completing a portfolio to evidence that you have undertaken clinical practice hours and have appropriate experience. Successful applicants via this route will complete a maximum of years 2 and 3 of the programme.
