Physiotherapy Practice

Physiotherapists assess and treat patients with temporary or long-term physical injuries, movement disorders or disability, planning to achieve the greatest possible degree of restoration, activity, participation and high quality of life. They may work independently or as members of healthcare teams. Physiotherapists are busy in preventing illness and injury and in the promotion of health. They are also associated with clinical research, movement rehab, ergonomics as well as also the administration of healthcare organisations.

The Master of Physiotherapy Practice is accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Council. Supporters of the Master of Physiotherapy Practice might be eligible to apply for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Professional registration may be subject to additional or continuing conditions beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body to get details.

• Bachelor's degree completed within the previous five years using a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65%
• Applicants who completed their degree longer than 5 years past may be contemplated on the grounds of postgraduate study and/or appropriate work experience
• Applicants must also have completed tertiary-level areas in regional ancestral body (lower and upper limb, pelvis, spine and thorax, head and neck), neuroanatomy, structure (including exercise physiology) and bio mechanics
• Completed tertiary-level areas in pathophysiology, psychology, pharmacology, evidence-based practice, research techniques or statistics, determinants of health, human movement, communicating or education are also desirable
• NB: prep minimal prerequisites does not guarantee that an offer of a location
• Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there can be limited places available.
