The Professional Practice (Design) MA is a work-based learning qualification for those employed in the design industry. A masters degree by this route is awarded for learning that takes place at work or through professional creative practice. The course is aimed at mid-career design professionals. It provides an opportunity to reflect on your professional design career thus far, and potentially develop a new future direction. The programme allows you to be accredited for your past and ongoing professional achievement and learning. The course builds on the established reputation of the Faculty in the field of professional design including fashion, interior, product, furniture and graphic design.
What will you study?
You will develop an individually-tailored programme of study, approved in the form of a Learning Agreement. Your Learning Agreement can consist entirely of individual learning goals, based on your past professional achievement (for which you submit evidence in the form of a portfolio) and current and new professional practice, accompanied at each stage by written commentary and critical reflection.
Study will take place flexibly, through tutorials and distance learning, meeting the goals agreed in your individual Learning Agreement.
There are three phases to this programme - Reflection and Planning; Research and
Investigation; and Project. Please note that this is an indicative list of modules and is not intended as a definitive list.
