This course is for students of a four-year accredited psychology program. The principal intent is to supply that the 5th year of supervised practice and structured understanding how to prepare applicants for a final year of supervised internship in the field of psychological clinic, prior to applying for general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. The Master of Professional Counsel provides one year of fulltime instruction in the professional practice of psychology that creates the foundation for professional practice, building on the current knowledge and skills base acquired as a member of an APAC-accredited (Australian Psychology Accreditation Council) four-year Accreditation class; requires an Accreditation approach predicated on the scientist-practitioner model; is broad and generalist in nature; and grounds that the center professional competencies as outlined in the APAC accreditation standards. The UOW School of Psychology offers exceptional facilities and staff to encourage instruction and opportunities for research. The Northfields Psychology Clinic based on campus offers training and oversight in professional psychology through a psychological service to the community.

The Master of Professional Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as Fulfilling the requirements of the 5th-year Application of study, allowing Progress towards registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Students accepted into the class must have successfully completed a 4 year, or three decades and a year, Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)-licensed order in psychology within the last ten decades, and meet the requirements for registration with the PBA as a Licensed psychologist. Places in this class are not limited. Selection procedures include: adequate completion of the application form and a personal announcement
  • Referee reports from at least two referees
  • Confirmation of initial degree certifications
  • Conclusion of an interview with a panel
