Psychology (Clinical Psychology)

The Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) involves intensive highlevel research training from the expert skills of clinical psychology. Clinical correlation is a specialisation focusing on psychopathology and the assessment and treatment of clinical disorders across the life span. Students will develop advanced knowledge/skills and experience in psychopathology, assessment and therapeutic interventions for both adults and children suffering from clinical disorders. They provide a vast variety of psychological services to individuals across the life span and for mental health problems which vary from mild to severe and complex. Along with professional training, clinical psychologists may participate with research, instruction and supervision, program development and evaluation, public policy as well as other tasks that promote emotional health in individuals, families, groups, and organisations. Students in this program participate in supervised work placements and undertake qualitative or quantitative research to aspects of emotional interventions, like the therapeutic procedure, experiences of therapists and clients, affect procedures, differing introducing topics and studies of treatment outcomes. Students also undertake course work components comprising of higher level study that's essential to this practice of clinical psychology, in addition to components of professional skills development and training.

Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Applicants admitted into this program will need to have: a diploma from an Australian university and have completed an four-year APAC accredited sequence of studies in psychology at first or upper second class grade, normally h 1 (80%), in a course or courses accredited by the Australian Psychological Society, or equivalent overseas qualifications recognised by the APS, or a Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) recognised by APAC. Demonstrated ownership of an suitable amount of knowledge and skill related to research. In accordance with the Rules set by The Cairnmillar Institute to get applied for and gained candidature approved by The Cairnmillar Institute Student Review Committee. Applicants who don't get candidature won't be qualified to remain in the doctoral program and may decide to submit an application for a place at the Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) application.
