The two themes in the Aerodynamics programme will suit graduates or similarly qualified individuals from engineering, scientific and mathematical backgrounds, with some experience of fluid dynamics, who are aiming for advanced specialisation in aerodynamics.
Both programmes emphasise the fundamentals of aerodynamics as a subject. Aerodynamics and Computation focuses on numerical methods and the physics and computation of turbulence.
Race Car Aerodynamics centres on analysis, computation and measurement of turbulent flows associated with high-performance race cars.
Core modules: Applications of computational fluid dynamics (CFD); Experimental techniques for aerodynamics; Numerical methods; Race car aerodynamics; Race car design/GDP; Turbulence 1: physics and measurement; Turbulence 2: computation and modelling
Three optional modules from: Applied aerodynamics; Design, search and optimisation: principles, methods and parameterisation; Design, search and optimisation: case studies; Flow control; Wing aerodynamics
Duration: 1 year (full-time); 2 years (part-time)
Assessment: Examinations, coursework, thesis
