Der Studiengang Software Engineering an der Fontys Fachhochschule hat eine Regelstudienzeit von vier Jahren. Pro Woche haben Sie etwa 24 Pflichtstunden. Darüber hinaus müssen Sie beispielsweise Vorlesungen vorbereiten, an Arbeitsgruppen teilnehmen oder Fachbücher lesen - insgesamt kommen hier noch einmal zirka 16 Stunden zusammen.

Erstes Studienjahr gemeinsam

Unser Informatikstudiengang bietet zwei unterschiedliche Schwerpunkte an: Software Engineering und Wirtschaftsinformatik. Im ersten Studienjahr studieren alle Informatikstudenten zusammen und absolvieren ein gemeinsames Programm. Dieses Programm vermittelt Ihnen die Grundkenntnisse der Informatik. Die Projekte des ersten Jahres bieten Ihnen die Möglichkeit, sich noch einmal zu vergewissern, ob Sie den richtigen Schwerpunkt innerhalb der Informatik gewählt haben. Falls nicht, können Sie sich bis zum Ende des ersten Jahres noch für den jeweils anderen Schwerpunkt entscheiden.

Gezielte Vorbereitung auf den Beruf

Hier in Venlo schaffen Sie Ihr Studium in 8 Semestern. Denn die Module sind gut aufeinander abgestimmt und enthalten keinen unnötigen theoretischen Lehrstoff. Dafür lernen Sie aber in speziellen Modulen, wie Sie interessante Präsentationen halten, informative Berichte schreiben und sich Ihre eigene Zeit gut einteilen. Damit sind Sie in angemessener Zeit gut auf Ihren Beruf vorbereitet.

Arbeiten in Projekten

Während des gesamten Studiums werden Sie mit der beruflichen Realität konfrontiert: Sie arbeiten vom ersten bis zum letzten Tag in Projekten. Im dritten Jahr absolvieren Sie ein fünfmonatiges Praktikum in einem Unternehmen. Ihre Abschlussarbeit am Ende Ihres Studiums schreiben Sie ebenfalls in einem Unternehmen.

Hoher Praxisbezug

Während des gesamten Studiums arbeiten Sie an Fallstudien und führen Aufträge in Unternehmen und Behörden durch. Außerdem absolvieren Sie im dritten Jahr ein drei- bis fünfmonatiges Praktikum in einem Unternehmen, um die Arbeitsweise eines Unternehmens zu verstehen. Zudem schreiben Sie Ihre Abschlussarbeit in einem Unternehmen. Durch diesen hohen Praxisbezug werden Sie frühzeitig auf die unternehmerische Realität eingestimmt.

Gute Ausstattung

Die Fachhochschule in Venlo wendet modernste Lehrkonzepte an. Sie nehmen nicht nur an Vorlesungen teil, Sie erarbeiten sich auch verschiedene Themen selbst und arbeiten projektbezogen im Team mit ihren Kommilitonen. Während Ihres Studiums arbeiten Sie am PC, sie recherchieren selbständig in Bibliotheken und im Internet und bereiten Präsentationen und Berichte vor. Dazu bietet Ihnen die "Studienlandschaft" alles, was Sie benötigen: Computerräume (natürlich mit E-mail und Internet), Multimediaräume, Projekträume, die Bibliothek und ein Kopier-Center, aber auch Räume, in denen Sie ganz in Ruhe lernen und arbeiten können.

Major-Minor: Die Wahl zur Spezialisierung und Qualifizierung

Ihr Studium unterteilt sich in Major und Minorphase. Die Majorphase bildet Sie anhand eines breiten Spektrums an Fächern zum Software Engineer aus und umfasst 75% der gesamten Studiendauer. Die übrigen 25% sind für Wahlfächer bzw. Vertiefungsfächer vorgesehen: die Minorphase. Durch die Teilnahme an einem Minor in einem anderen Fontysinstitut können Sie zum einen Ihre Berufsperspektiven ausweiten und zum anderen sich selbst spezialisieren. Studieren in einer neuen Umgebung und an einer neuen Schule ist spannend, aber ab und zu auch schwer. Kommilitonen, die schon bei uns studieren, sorgen dafür, dass Sie als neuer Student an der Fontys Fachhochschule eingeführt werden. In unseren Klassen sind maximal 30 Studenten, so daß Sie sich untereinander schnell kennen lernen.

Während des Studiums müssen Sie viele Entscheidungen treffen, dabei lassen wir Sie aber nicht alleine. Während Ihres gesamten Studiums betreut Sie ein Studienlaufbahnbegleiter, der Ihnen beim Planen Ihres Studiums und in Ihrer Entscheidungsfindung, zum Beispiel im Rahmen Ihrer Schwerpunktfächer oder Ihres Praktikums, hilft. In einem persönlichen Entwicklungsplan stellen Sie den Ablauf zusammen, wo und wie Sie die Kompetenzen erarbeiten möchten (Wissen, Haltung und Fähigkeiten), die Sie für Ihren zukünftigen Beruf benötigen.
