Requirements

  • Qualified nurse with active registration on the NMC Nursing Register. HV applicants could have active registration on the NMC Midwifery Register rather than on the Nursing Register.

  • Two satisfactory references of which one should be an academic reference.

  • A Diploma of Higher Education or the equivalent of 120 level 2 credits. All applicants are required to be interviewed to ascertain their professional readiness to undertake the programme.

  • Applicants must obtain a sponsored student SCPHN place for the Health Visiting and School Nursing pathways, these are advertised at www.jobs.nhs.uk

Please note: This course may involve regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults, also known as regulated activity. Where this is the case, students will be legally required to register with the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) which is administered by the Independent Safeguarding Authority. The Independent Safeguarding Authority has recently been established as a single agency to monitor all individuals who want to work or volunteer with vulnerable people. Registration with the scheme will cost £64, as a one off payment, which will cover both the cost of registration and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Following successful registration you will be issued with an ISA Registration Number which will stay with you for the rest of your career.
