> Technology is sporting.

From international sports to recreational sports for a health-conscious population sports are in high demand! The sale of sports equipment generates some 6 billion of revenue in Austria, and the sporting goods industry is responding to this development with increasingly extensive research and ever more complex technologies. As a result, the industry requires more specialists with technical, medical and sports science expertise than ever before.

Technology results in athletic success

Graduates of the Sports Equipment Technology masters degree program, which is the only program of its kind in Europe and is offered on a full-time basis, develop and monitor the production of optimum sports equipment for the growing sporting goods market. They work in equipment design and material engineering and apply a wide variety of measurement techniques in laboratories in order to test the equipment developed. During their studies they are already involved in research and development in the sport of golf, for example, they make new advancements in the materials used or in the sequence of movements, using motion analysis and measurement techniques such as electromyography, acceleration sensors in the clubhead, vibration pickups on the shaft of the club and pressure distribution measurements in the shoe.
