The Department of Theology & Religious Studies is pleased to advise that the College is now accepting applications for the above programme.

The programme consists of eight modules, plus attendance at a theological seminar, plus completion of a minor dissertation (15,000-20,000 words).

The programme will run over two years, two evenings per week, Tuesday and Thursday, with two modules in each of the four semesters.

The programme may also include a number of Saturdays

The taught modules will be assessed by a combination of continuous assessment, essays and end-of-semester examinations.

The normal requirement for entry to the MA in Theological Studies programme is a First or Second Class Honours primary degree in Theology OR Theology and Religious Studies OR a cognate academic discipline. Applicants with equivalent qualifications or substantial relevant experience may also be considered. Final selection may require attendance for interview.

Applicants without a First or Second Class Honours primary degree may, with the approval of the Course Co-ordinator, pursue a qualifying programme and be examined on completion of that programme. The examination may be taken once only.

The following is a list of course modules, these are subject to revision and will depend on the number of students registered.

The Church and Churches; Medieval Theology; Morality in the Market Place; Church, State, Morality and Law; Selected Topics in Canon Law; Christian Spirituality; Biblical Spirituality; Liturgical Theology; Sacramental Initiation; Forms of Celebration; Theologians of the Twentieth Century; Introduction to Biblical Greek; Biblical Criticism; Intermediate Biblical Greek; Hebrew Narrative: the Primary History (Genesis-Kings) and later Biblical Prose; Prophetic Literature; New Testament Narrative (Four Gospels and Acts);The Epistles of the New Testament; Ancient Wisdom Literature; Johannine Literature; Ancient Hebrew.

PLEASE ARRANGE TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING ORIGINAL MATERIALSUBMITTED TO POSTGRADUATE ADMISSIONS. * A transcript of your academic career to date from the Registrar of your university(s) (to include your final degree(s) results). * Official results of examinations to be taken should be submitted as soon as they are available. * Non-Irish graduates may be requested to forward syllabus and duration of undergraduate courses followed.

Scholarships
Financial support structures at Mary Immaculate College include a Doctoral Award (PhD in Arts or Education), Studentships, Assistantships, and Special Awards. Students pursuing research postgraduate degrees in Arts or Education are eligible to apply for MIC awards. These are available on a competitive basis and at the discretion of the College. Typically, awards provide a subsistence bursary for the normal registration period of benefiting students, and in some cases also off-set tuition fees.

Gaeltacht University Scholarships, 1916 Commemoration Scholarships awarded on the results of the Leaving Certificate Examination, Irish Language Third-Level Scholarships are tenable in the College.

The Munster Council of the GAA awards a limited number of bursaries to students who have achieved County Level standard from minor grade upwards. Bursaries are awarded when students have registered in the College.
