Theology

The programme Master of Theology as a whole will give the student in-depth knowledge in fields relevant for academic theological study and research and an academic and interdisciplinary understanding.

The following requirements must be fulfilled to obtain the degree Master of Theology at MF Norwegian School of Theology:

??? Theological courses of at least 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), all on master level (5000-/6000-level).
??? Theological courses in at least two of the main disciplines of theology (Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology and Practical Theology).
??? An independent thesis under supervision of 60 ECTS (including a course in methodology).
??? To obtain the degree with a specialisation, courses of at least 30 ECTS in the discipline must be part of the programme. The thesis will usually focus on the same discipline. The common specialisation is Theology, Mission and Society.
??? Documented equivalent studies from other academic institutions can be included in the programme.
??? At least 60 ECTS (including thesis) must be completed at MF Norwegian School of Theology to obtain the degree.

To be admitted to the programme a student must satisfy the following requirements:??? Fulfilment of the General Matriculation Standard of Norwegian institutions of higher education (???Generell studiekompetanse???).??? Either a non-Norwegian university bachelor degree in theology or a comparable field based on three years of study beyond Norwegian matriculation level or equivalent Norwegian educational qualifications approved by the school.??? Grade average equivalent to Norwegian C level.??? Documented knowledge of Greek and/or Hebrew if the student wants to include original language studies in The Old Testament or The New Testament in his or her degree.??? Documented proficiency in English (IELTS-test with a minimum score of 6.5 or equivalent) enabling the student to study in the English language and to write an independent scholarly thesis in English.Admissions are at all times regulated by the applicable rules and regulations.
